Vera Wang SS13 at Shanghai Fashion Week

Chinese American designer Vera Wang showed her support of China’s domestic fashion industry today with a solid show at Shanghai Fashion Week. Although it was a bit far away (it was in the International Fashion Center), it was worth the trek to see this homecoming of sorts. I didn’t see Wang herself there, but at least she let China see what she could do outside of wedding dresses… I mean, there were of course wedding dresses, but with the opening of her first store in China in Xintiandi (I don’t know when it will officially open, but it looks like there is still a lot of work to do) I thought it was smart of her to also show some more casual looks. Some of my favorite pieces were  a bit deconstructed, which gave them a cooler, younger yet still sophisticated feeling. Unfortunately I failed to capture a lot of details because I was in the second row… So if you’re reading this Vera, sorry my photos don’t do your dresses justice, but this is what happens to people not in the front row.
