La Chambre Miniature Fall/Winter 2013

Although already on their second show, this was my first time to see La Chambre Miniature on a runway or in a store. I had heard a lot of good things about them from a couple of friends, but don’t believe it until you see it with your own eyes…

So after seeing it for the first time I would say I’m almost a believer. The beginning was so simple yet so strong, which provided solid evidence that the designers really believed in the purity that they professed was central to their collection. Everything was either black or white, save for bright, colorful sequin dresses that I actually loved. But by the end it seemed that simplicity had run its course and given way to fussier constructs, creating a conceptual gap that I’m still trying to rectify. Maybe I should have a more flexible mind, but if you tell me you’re going to give me simple and I see complicated then someone’s perception is a bit wacky. But only time will tell what will happen with this brand, and I think it’s reasonable to expect bigger and better things to come from La Chambre Miniature.
