Qi Pu Lu Do, Zha Bei District

Qi Pu Lu is known primarily for its dirt cheap clothes, but I think it’s real value lies in the swarms of young, hip Chinese people. What these youngsters are lacking in terms of finances they make up for in experimental eccentricity… and so I go more to people-watch than to shop.

So this is one of my favorite shots from this past weekend… I don’t think I really need to explain more than this close up:

Crazy Chinese hair has always been a favorite of mine to photograph and this is definitely up there in terms of quality hairdos. I like how it’s a bit messy but still maintaining a lot of its structure. Chinese people in general have some great hair, but this do is definitely tops.
